Why free apps show ads, what permissions mean, and the controls you have.

Our apps are free to download and use. Like many free apps, they are supported by advertising. We believe users should understand how this works, so this guide explains why ads appear, what app permissions are for, and the privacy controls available on every Android phone.

Why free apps show ads

Developing apps, keeping them compatible with new Android versions, and providing support all have ongoing costs. Advertising lets us cover these costs while keeping the apps free for everyone. In our apps, ads are delivered through Google AdMob; on this website, ads may be delivered through Google AdSense.

What we do to keep ads respectful

  • We aim to place ads where they do not interrupt recitation or reading.
  • Google's publisher tools let us review ads and block categories that are not suitable for a Quran app.
  • If you ever see an inappropriate ad, please tell us via Support with a screenshot, so we can review our ad settings.

Understanding app permissions

Android asks for your permission before an app can access certain features. Permissions you may see in Quran audio apps include:

  • Network access — to stream or download recitations and to load ads.
  • Storage or media access — on some Android versions, to save downloaded audio and play it offline.
  • Notifications — to show playback controls while audio plays in the background.

You can review or change permissions at any time from Settings → Apps → [app name] → Permissions. Be cautious with any Quran app that requests access unrelated to its purpose, such as your contacts or SMS messages.

Controlling ad personalization

Android gives you control over how your advertising ID is used:

  1. Open your phone's Settings.
  2. Go to Google (or Privacy, depending on your phone) and then Ads.
  3. Choose to reset or delete your advertising ID. Without it, ads you see will be less personalized.

On the web, you can manage ad personalization in Google's Ads Settings. For details on how our website and apps handle data, read our Privacy Policy.

Staying safe when downloading Islamic apps

  • Download apps from Google Play rather than from unknown websites.
  • Check the developer name and read recent reviews before installing.
  • Keep your apps and Android system updated to receive security fixes.
  • Be wary of apps that ask for payment details or personal information without a clear reason.
